Museum Attire

One of my favorite activities is visiting art museums. Living near New York City, I am fortunate enough to have easy access to world renowned museums like the MoMa and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Whenever I get the chance, I like to go visit new exhibits and galleries throughout the city.

To start 2017 on the right foot, I decided to take my little sister to the Whitney Museum of American Art to see its "Dreamlands: Immersive Cinema and Art, 1905–2016" exhibition. Although my sister is not the biggest art fan, I though that she might enjoy the playful aspects of the collection. I styled my sister and we had a fun impromptu photoshoot at the Whitney!

I chose to reflect the museums industrial-like exterior in my look. Layering white and grey clothing, I imitated the museum's color scheme. Mixing a structured vest with looser jeans and sweaters, I captured the contrast seen with the museum's sharp exterior and the flowing Hudson River behind it. Adding a large pom-pom hat and sneakers, I gave a nod to the whimsical art within the museum.

With my sister's look, I decided to channel the colorful art within the Whitney. Layering a copper romper over a black turtleneck, I created a unique contrast that made her look stand out.
